Drive Safe, Arrive Safe

Your guide to a safer holiday journey – Drive Safe, Arrive Safe

Last 6 years in Australia and New Zealand 329 people died on our roads during the Christmas holiday period.

As our relatives wave us off on our journey, often the last thing we’ll hear them say to us is “drive safe”.  Losing someone on our roads at any time is devastating but during a time which should be for creating good memories and connecting with family and friends it is another cruel layer of grief that families have to manage every year.

And the last 3 years were worse than 3 years before.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.  Many crashes are the result of simple mistakes which could have been avoided through better planning.  Check out our blogs and guides prior to this years journey and set yourself up to arrive safe at your destination.

What puts you at risk over the period?

  • Driving on unfamiliar roads
  • Driving long distances after full and busy days
  • Speeding due to tight schedules
  • Driving after drinking at celebrations
  • Impact from heat (both affects your car and your own alertness)
  • Distraction from passengers, music, mindstate, scenery and phones
  • Extra traffic leading to impatiences and risky moves (like overtaking)
  • Poorly packed and overloaded cars impacting visability and drivability
  • Poor forward planning (ie vehicle maintenances, break stops etc)

Don’t forget, you’re also sharing the road with other drivers who are facing the exact same challenges.

Check out our blogs below for tips on how to overcome these challenges
